The boys are playing baseball this summer. It is called Junior Giants (as in the San Francisco Giants pro baseball team) and it is a free program. They play non-competitive baseball as well complete a reading goal and do leadership and character building. It has been a lot of fun. Brother and Young Son have both met their reading goals already and they are only halfway through the session. The team goal is six hours for each kid. Brother set his own goal of 24 hours, which he has exceeded. (He and I kicked off our summer by reading the Hunger Games trilogy together – good stuff.)

Family Man has been involved with the team, too, helping to lead stretches and training exercises. The Gold team’s first couple of games were on our home field in Eureka. They don’t keep score, so everyone is a winner! Next weekend we’ll be hitting the road and playing in McKinleyville.
